We’re looking for an experienced Legal & Compliance Counsel to join our UK & Ireland team on a maternity cover basis, a fixed-term contract until October 2027. This is a broad, hands-on role where you’ll work closely with the Head of Legal & Compliance and business stakeholders across multiple functions. The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm and is based in Runcorn, Cheshire with the option of hybrid working.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pragmatic, solutions-focused legal advice to support business objectives.
  • Draft, negotiate and advise on a wide range of commercial contracts.
  • Advise on contractual, procurement and commercial risk matters.
  • Manage external counsel effectively and control legal spend.
  • Support the implementation of the global compliance framework (including anti-bribery & corruption)
  • Contribute to compliance training, communications and awareness activities.
  • Help embed a strong culture of integrity across the business.
  • Advise on data protection and privacy matters across the UK & Ireland.
  • Support data privacy compliance and security processes.
  • Deliver training and promote best practice in data handling.
  • Develop and share legal best practice and guidance.
  • Deliver engaging training and support knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of legal processes and tools.

Qualifications

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister (UK).
  • Strong experience in commercial contracts and general in-house legal work.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment (life sciences or healthcare industry would be beneficial)
  • Good working knowledge of compliance and data protection.
  • A confident communicator who can engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Pragmatic, proactive and commercially minded
